The Former Neyland School development delivered to the Ateb Group won the ‘Best Large Social Housing Development’ award under the management of our Construction Manager, Tom Bevan, and Site Manager, Mael Spencer. This is our second consecutive year winning this award, with our Albert Town development, also delivered to the Ateb Group, winning it in 2022.

The project involved the design and build of 33 dwellings across 3 phases; comprising of 8 one-bed flats, 2 bungalows and a combination of two, three and four-bedroom homes. The development also incorporated car parking, landscaping, living wall retaining structures, drainage, and associated engineering highways works. Each property was built using pre-insulated timber frame construction, consequently offering the added benefits of using offsite MMC. Each property has a photovoltaic roof made using reconstituted slate.

From start to finish, Tom and Mael delivered the development at the former Neyland School to an exceptionally high standard, with a high level of attention to detail. Effectively working in collaboration with the client, local authority, design team, subcontractors, and specialists throughout each of the construction stages, Tom and Mael ensured that the client’s quality standards were exceeded and building control requirements were surpassed.

As part of our continuous improvement measures, Ateb reported high scores on our customer satisfaction survey for factors such as design/consultation, quality of product, communication, snagging/sign off, and defects and amendments. These scores demonstrate our proficiency and ability to deliver a first-class project, and evidence that the former Neyland School development is deserving of this award.

The Treberth Crescent development delivered to the Pobl Group won the ‘Best Purpose Built Accommodation’ award under the management of our Contracts and Site Manager, Matthew Hall.

The Treberth scheme provided 45 older persons homes over 2 blocks; 1 containing 18 one-bedroom apartments, and the other containing 27 two-bedroom apartments, each linked via a three-storey atrium space. Additionally, the development included a community hub for tenants living in the wider surrounding area. Externally, raised planting beds were installed for residents to grow their own fruit and vegetables, with a winding path and rest points providing residents with plenty of outdoor space. The development utilised a range of sustainable technologies within its’ innovative and eco-friendly design, including green roofs, living walls, and PV solar panels. Careful care and attention were given to maximise the sustainable features within the development to not only benefit the environment but to minimise fuel poverty for the occupants.

Our Contracts and Site Manager for the project, Matthew Hall, had the following to say about the scheme, ‘This development had everything. Timber frame, traditional, steel frame, curved metal roof, flat roof, green roof, brickwork, cladding, balconies and even a bridge! Lots of interfaces with different methods of construction and different materials. All difficult details that required lots of preplanning and involvement with all parties, designer through to installer. Everyone had to be on the same page to ensure we had the best quality outcome. Pobl Group are delighted with the development and often comment on Treberth being a development they are very proud of. The development was on time and on budget. I often call in to the development to check in with the caretaker. Coming up to 12 months since handover and it’s still looking fantastic.’.
