Following the success of our recent tender submission, Hale have entered into contract with Hedyn to construct 43 new homes for affordable rent at St John’s Court, Rogerstone, Newport.
The project will include the demolition of the existing North site buildings, replaced with 9 new apartments, and 5 three-storey houses. The South site will provide over 55’s replacement accommodation for the existing North Block, comprising of 29 one and two bed apartments and a flexible communal space for residential use.
With placemaking and community cohesion in mind, the development has been designed to positively respond to the site’s topography; promoting active frontage and overlooking onto existing streets. Landscaping will be heavily integrated into the scheme’s design, with the protection of a number of protected mature trees.
Already on site at Longmeadow Court, in the Lliswerry area of Newport; St John’s will be Hale’s second project for Hedyn (formerly Newport City Homes and Melin Homes). With the final elements of the pre-construction of the project yet to conclude, we anticipate commencing enabling works in January 2026.
“Hale are delighted to enter into our second contract with Hedyn, continuing our excellent working partnership, to create new homes at St John’s Court. We have delivered several successful projects around Newport over recent years and are excited to commence another within this vibrant city”.
