Groundworks commences at Extra Care facility in Penarth

Hale Group are delighted to have commenced groundworks on site at Myrtle Close, Penarth. The development for client Wales and West Housing Association (WWHA), will provide a much needed Extra Care facility, comprising of 70 individually, self-contained apartments for individuals and couples with evolving needs.

A landscaped courtyard will enhance placemaking and community living, and will include a “dementia friendly” space for residents and their families. The provision of 24-hour on-site support, will allow residents who would like to remain living independently, still benefit from the security of extra assistance and on-site care. Each home will be built with the end users needs in mind; balancing comfort with high levels of quality.

Myrtle Close is WWHA’s sixth Extra Care facility across Wales. Situated adjacent to WWHA’s Oak Court older persons’ housing development, the development is perfectly placed to complement their existing stock within the locality.

Ensuring that local wildlife thrives, Hale are working in tandem with WWHA and the local Ecologists, to provide bat boxes, and relocate mature trees (allowing more space for them to grow), whilst planting new ones.

Throughout the build, Hale will be seeking to engage with local stakeholders to deliver meaningful Community Engagement, and Targeted Recruitment and Training initiatives. If you are an individual, group, or local stakeholder who would like to propose an initiative to support, please email Social Value Officer, Dionne Herbert on Dherbert@halegroup.uk
