As a response to the Local Authority’s ‘Older Persons Housing Strategy’, to meet the needs of older people in the city, the development consists of 45 one and two bedroom independent living apartments for over 55s. Additionally, to tackle social isolation and improve access to health and wellbeing services for older persons in the community, a flexible activity space will be provided to the ground floor. This will be run by Cardiff Council’s Housing Team with the aim to run services with a focus on older people.

The new buildings will provide sustainable, low carbon properties. Along the boundary of the site, new trees will be planted. Landscape design will improve the visual appearance of the development, aid biodiversity, and integrate sustainable drainage features. Two private garden spaces for residents will be provided on the ground floor and third floor. These spaces will be designed for leisure and recreation, with elderly persons in mind.
